If you have ever visited the Royal Palm Beach office of local dentist Dr. Farokh Jiveh, you'll know that his hilarious sense of humor keeps his patients entertained through the course of whatever procedure he may be performing.
But aside from making his patients laugh, there is another reason that Dr. Jiveh makes his patients smile, and he learned it from Dr. Larry Rosenthal, regarded by his peers as the top guy in aesthetic dentistry. Dr. Jiveh is always trying to improve his skills in order to give his patients the best service and care he possibly can. Recently, Dr. Jiveh attended a course, instructed by "The Smile Maker" Dr. Rosenthal, to expand his knowledge even further.
Dentists from as far away as Germany converged on Palm Beach Community College, along with Dr. Jiveh, to learn more from the expert. "He is the expert in the field of aesthetic dentistry, and through Dr. Rosenthal, I have been introduced to the latest technology, materials and methods. Things that were just a dream a few short years ago," Dr. Jiveh said. "I think it is important to stay on top of whatever field you are in, especially dentistry. Things move so rapidly in the realm of dental advances, that keeping up with the changes and latest breakthroughs is key to being one of the best in this field."
Dr. Rosenthal thinks so too. He has performed his one-day smile makeovers on thousands of patients including celebrities like Donald Trump, Kathie Lee Gifford and designer Vera Wang. He believes that using non-invasive cosmetic dental techniques to improve a patient's smile has a positive impact on the person's overall appearance and self-confidence. It is for this reason that he takes his "show on the road," so to speak. A pioneer in his field, Dr. Rosenthal travels the world to teach other dentists the art of aesthetic dentistry, which is a skill only touched on in many dental schools.
Most dentists, like Dr. Jivah, attend additional courses and seminars to learn more about their craft. Dr. Jiveh, for example, is on the Master's Level in his continuing education process. "Dr. Rosenthal's course is the finest I have been involved in to this date," Dr. Jiveh said. "Cosmetic dentistry, which includes porcelain veneers, cosmetic bonding and bleaching, is becoming more and more popular with the public, who see some of the procedures done on television and now want to have them done on themselves. This field if as much a form of art as it is medicine, and the demand for whiter teeth and a younger, vibrant smile makes it imperative that dentists performing these procedures are well-educated in them."
Dr. Jiveh added that he will continue to refine his "art" by participating in courses such as Dr. Rosenthal's. "My patients deserve the best service in comprehensive dentistry that I can give them," he noted. "I will continue to provide the latest and most up-to-date procedures that are available to not only satisfy my patients' needs, but also to keep them comfortable and happy with the results when they sit in my chair."
Dr. Rosenthal, whose practice is located in New York City, lectures extensively at education seminars around the world and recently partnered with the New York University School of Dentistry to develop the Rosenthal Institute fro Aesthetic Dentistry, the first school of it's kind, to teach graduate and undergraduate dental students the art of cosmetic dentistry. He is also the director of Aesthetic Advantage Inc., which is a company dedicated to educating, motivating and stimulating other dental professionals like Dr. Jiveh.
The easy and painless smile makeovers pioneered by Dr. Rosenthal can be achieved in one office visit. In about four hours, patients receive life-changing results. After a consultation, where patients can see their potential new smile via computer imaging, which allows them to choose the most natural-looking smile, Dr. Rosenthal begins to create a masterpiece with surgery or pain. He reshapes the gum line, and by using the Diode Laser, he is able to reshape the gum around the tooth in seconds without bleeding. The procedure works to correct irregular gum lines and lengthen the appearance of each tooth.
Patients can also choose the longer process of porcelain veneers. The veneers help repair crooked, discolored, worn or chipped teeth, and the final result is a beautiful smile, custom-designed for the individual patient. A porcelain veneer, custom-made by master ceramists, is a thin, wafer-like shell used to close spaces between teeth, lengthen them and make the teeth more youthful looking by building out and broadening the smile. The veneers are long-lasting and stain resistant, but natural looking. The result is a beautiful, custom-designed smile.
Besides having a beautiful smile, Rosenthal said other perks can also be accomplished. At times, he rebuilds the teeth near the side of the mouth, closest to the cheeks, which gives the patient a fuller smile, which in turn enhances the lips, making them fuller and "sexier."
During Dr. Rosenthal's recent course at PBCC, each dentist brought a patient to work on. Dr. Jiveh brought Margaret Watts, who said she was quite impressed by the high level of technology used during her treatment. "All I know is, I can't stop smiling," Watts said. "It has been a wonderful experience here with Dr. Jiveh and by his and the other doctors' energy and willingness to share their knowledge with each other. Being in a positive environment when you are having dental work done is a great plus. That's why Dr. Jiveh is my dentist. His office is a friendly place that I enjoy going to, and the wonderful work he does makes my visits to him a comfortable and enjoyable experience all around."
Dr. Jiveh sums it all up this way: "The most important thing is to give my patients what they want in the best surroundings and by using the latest equipment. This makes each visit a positive one. When I see my patients like Margaret smile, it makes me smile, because I know they're happy with the results."
